NT Live Hits Dublin; Broadcasts Beale & Shaw-Led LONDON ASSURANCE, 6/28

By: Jun. 14, 2010

Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival and the Irish Film Institute have joined forces to bring NT Live to Dublin. On June 28th at 6:45pm the IFI will feature live via satellite, the National Theatre's production of Irish playwright Dion Boucicault's LONDON ASSURANCE, starring Fiona Shaw and Simon Russell Beale, in the fourth screening at the IFI from the NT Live series. NT Live is an initiative to broadcast live performances of National Theatre plays onto cinema screens around the world.

In LONDON ASSURANCE, Sir Harcourt Courtly is lured away from the epicentre of fashionable London by the promise of a rich and beautiful bride, Grace, several decades his junior. Arriving at Oak Hall, he marvels at this rural Venus until her charms are eclipsed by her hearty cousin, the foxhunting Lady Gay Spanker. Meanwhile his disguised son turns up in flight from his creditors and falls head over heels for Grace. When Lady Spanker discovers the young couple, she needs little prompting from the visiting chancer Dazzle to lead Sir Harcourt astray.

Tickets cost €15. To buy a ticket, visit www.ifi.ie.

Presented by the Irish Film Institute in association with Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival. NT Live is distributed internationally by New York based BY Experience. Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival and the Irish Film Institute receive financial assistance from the Arts Council. Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival gratefully acknowledges the invaluable support of its Title Sponsor. The 2010 Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival will run from September 30th - October 17th. Programme details will be announced in late July.
