By: Jan. 06, 2010

Lane Productions are delighted to announce that multi-award-winning actress Brenda Blethyn, Niall Buggy and Beth Cooke will star in Edna O'Brien's play Haunted when the show opens in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre on 4th February for 11 days only. Haunted then embarks on a spring tour in the UK prior to a West End run.

Haunted, penned by the award-winning Irish writer Edna O'Brien especially for Brenda Blethyn, received its world premiere at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre earlier this year. Directed by Braham Murray, Haunted is produced by Duncan C Weldan, Paul Elliott and Lane Productions.

An extraordinary play about love and betrayal, Haunted tells the story of a captivating young stall holder, Hazel (Beth Cooke), who enters the life of the quixotic Mr Berry (Niall Buggy). In his desperation to ensure she returns, he starts to secretly giving away his wife's clothes in exchange for elocution lessons. But as the redoubtable Mrs Berry (Brenda Blethyn) searches for an explanation as to her fast-diminishing wardrobe, Mr Berry soon finds that both of his relationships are increasingly under threat in this poignant and enchanting tale of desire and regret.

The multi-award-winning Brenda Blethyn has been nominated for her outstanding performance in Little Voice and won the Golden Globe and BAFTA award for best actress for her role in Secrets and Lies and has starred in countless plays, television dramas and films.

Amongst his many theatre credits, the Oliver Award-winning Niall Buggy has appeared in After Play, An Inspector Calls, The Weir, Uncle Vanya (awarded Best Actor, Irish Theatre Awards), Dead Funny and Juno and the Paycock (awarded Best Actor, Regional Theatre Awards) to name but a few.
