Industry News: Simon Delany Joins Colin Ingram Ltd As Global Marketing Director

Simon Delany has been appointed Global Marketing Director of Colin Ingram Ltd, working on the marketing of the Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical Back To The Future the Musical worldwide, Grease in the UK and The Time Traveller's Wife: the Musical.

Producer Colin Ingram said of Delany's appointment, "I loved working with Simon back in 2005 on Billy Elliot the Musical, when he was at AKA, and I am delighted to be working with him again, this time on the London production and global roll-out of Back To The Future the Musical, the West End production of Grease and our new musical The Time Traveller's Wife, which premieres at Chester Storyhouse this October prior to the West End. Simon is a huge asset to our team and brings tons of experience and enthusiasm as our production slate continues to grow worldwide".

Simon Delany responded, "Having previously very much enjoyed working with Colin on Billy Elliot the Musical, I am now thrilled to be joining his team as Global Marketing Director for Back To The Future the Musical, Grease and The Time Traveller's Wife: the Musical. Growing up, I was (and remain) a huge fan of the Back To The Future films and the musical now takes the story to a whole new level. Being a part of the worldwide expansion of this remarkable production, alongside a reimagining of Grease and the premiere of a new musical at Storyhouse, is an amazing opportunity and I'm excited to get started."

Delany began his career in 2000 working in sponsorship at Virgin Radio. He moved to AKA Promotions in 2003 where he managed the launch and opening of Billy Elliot the Musical. After three years he moved to be an Account Director at Target Media and while there played an instrumental role in setting up Target Live, a full-service agency for the arts and entertainment industry. In 2008, Simon returned to AKA Promotions as Client Services Director, where he was responsible for the overall campaign management and strategy across a number of West End

productions, including Billy Elliot the Musical (producer Working Title), Jersey Boys (producer Dodger Theatricals), Rock of Ages (producer S2BN), 9 to 5 (producer ATG) and Jerusalem (producer Sonia Friedman.) He became a Director of AKA Promotions and Head of Client Services in 2013, leading a 35-strong team of Account Directors, Managers and Executives who managed the marketing and sales strategy of West End productions, theatres, heritage organisations and London museums & galleries. In 2020, Delany became Group Director of Marketing for Hartshorn - Hook Enterprises/Immersive Everywhere, overseeing the marketing and communications strategy for all their live productions, including the BBC licensed immersive adventure Doctor Who Time Fracture, Choir of Man, Amelie the Musical and Peaky Blinders: The Rise.
