2023 Broadway Stage Management Symposium to Take Place in May
The ninth annual BSMS features discussions, panels, and presentations with the highly-regarded Stage Management professionals on Broadway.

The 9th annual Broadway Stage Management Symposium will be held on Saturday, May 20th - Sunday, May 21st, 2023 in a truly hybrid event bringing together stage managers in New York City and Online. A rich experience is available for stage managers around the world to learn, grow, and connect. BSMS is a highly regarded conference made by stage managers, for stage managers, and featuring Broadway's stage managers who share their wisdom and expertise in a highly engaging, dynamic event for stage managers of all ages and levels.
The ninth annual BSMS features discussions, panels, and presentations with the highly-regarded Stage Management professionals on Broadway, offering insights, education, inspiration, and connection for anyone interested in stage management. BSMS puts the stage management profession center stage. Panelists share insights and knowledge gained through decades of experience on Broadway. The sessions reveal important information and concepts critical to a successful, sustained and fulfilling career. Panels feature a diverse set of topics that range from practical career advice to philosophical approaches for an exciting weekend of professional development and networking. Attendees include students, educators, young professionals, and seasoned practitioners.
BSMS is open to stage managers at every level. There are numerous opportunities in person and online to ask questions of panelists and make connections with stage managers from around the world. BSMS is an unparalleled networking event which can directly lead to better employment opportunities. About Broadway Stage Management Symposium
Founded by seasoned Broadway stage manager and educator, Matthew Stern who has worked on over twenty Broadway productions including Come From Away, The Lion King, Finding Neverland, On The Town, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, The Little Mermaid, Wicked, Death Of A Salesman (with Philip Seymour Hoffman), Fiddler On The Roof (with Alfred Molina & Harvey Fierstein), Enchanted April (with Molly Ringwald & Jayne Atkinson), The Phantom Of The Opera, The Full Monty, and more.
Stern is on the faculty of SUNY Purchase, has taught at UC San Diego, and is on the board of directors of the Stage Managers' Association, USA.
