America's favorite orphan finds a home in Indianapolis as Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre presents Annie as its 2009 family show. A winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Annie is live on stage May 21 through July 3.

Annie endures a "Hard Knock Life" with her friends in a New York City orphanage during the Great Depression. Believing that her mother and father are alive, Annie is certain they will come for her as soon as they can. She'll know they are her parents when they provide proof: the other half of the locket she wears.

Despite the protests of Miss Hannigan, who is in charge of the orphanage for girls, Annie is treated to a week with billionaire Oliver Warbucks just before Christmas. When Warbucks offers a financial reward as incentive for Annie's parents to claim her, Miss Hannigan and her brother seize the opportunity to cash in. Half of a locket in hand, they show up in disguise to claim the orphan and the loot. It's up to the spunky girl and her friends to discover the truth and, ultimately, Annie's new home.

A longtime favorite loosely based on Harold Gray's classic comic strip "Little Orphan Annie," it's time for a whole new generation to experience this classic musical about never giving up hope. Boasting one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including "It's the Hard-Knock Life," "Easy Street," "N.Y.C." and the ever-optimistic "Tomorrow," Annie is a delightful theatrical experience.

More than 200 girls auditioned for Beef & Boards' production of Annie. Kara Oates was selected to play the title role after viewers voted online for their favorite finalist as part of a live televised sing-off on Indy's Fox 59. Kara is 10 years old and a student at Our Lady of Greenwood. She will be joined on stage by her little sister, Molly, who will play her orphan namesake. Ty Stover of Indianapolis reprises his 2002 role as Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.

The book is by Thomas Meehan, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin. Beef & Boards' production is directed by Eddie Curry and choreographed by Ron Morgan. Musical director is Kristy Templet. Sponsored in part by Indy's Child.
