THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE Continues to Delight Audiences
Actors Theatre of Indiana (ATI) - Carmel Indiana's ONLY professional resident theatre company presents the 2-time Tony Award winner, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on stage through February 18 in The Studio Theater at The Center for the Performing Arts.
The ... Spelling Bee is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss. The show centers on a fictional Middle School spelling bee where six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups. The 2005 Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards.
The Actors Theatre of Indiana's cast includes Judy Fitzgerald, Doug Trapp, Brett Mutter, Arianne Villareal, Emily Crowley, Adee David, Danny Kingston, Keith Potts, and Johnnie Taylor.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee - rated PG for adult language and content - runs through Sunday, February 18. Performances are Wednesdays through Sundays in The Studio Theater at The Center for the Performing Arts -- under the Artistic Direction of Michael Feinstein, "The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook". Along with the Center Green, the three-venue complex is a gathering place for people to celebrate great art together. The venues include The Palladium - an acoustically ideal 1,600 seat concert venue, ATI's The Studio Theater - Carmel's Only Professional Resident Theatre Company, and Civic's The Tarkington - providing a space for community productions. In addition to serving as Artistic Director, Mr. Feinstein frequently performs at the Center... and assists with programming.
