Photo Flash: Theatre at the Center Presents THE STORY OF THE NUTCRACKER

Theatre at the Center's 2010- 2011 Theatre For Young Audiences Season continues with the live musical play version of the traditional holiday favorite, The Story of the Nutcracker, introducing kids to the classic music of Tchaikovsky. Join the fun in this traditional holiday tale about a young girl, Marie, and her very favorite Christmas present, the Nutcracker, November 29 through December 13. Theatre at the Center's Theatre for Young Audiences is located at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. 
 
In this play, Marie Falls asleep, and when she awakes, she finds the Nutcracker has come to life, along with a toy Soldier and a doll named Clara.  Unfortunately, other toys have come to life as well, including the Mouse King. Marie, the Nutcracker, and the other toys embark on a journey to reach the Sugar Plum Fairy. They venture through the beautiful Land of Snow, and finally arrive in the delicious Land of Sweets. This dream-like production is perfect for all ages and celebrates friendship and the beauty of the holiday spirit. 

A special lunch package will also be available on November 29, 30, December 6, 7, 10 and 13 for an additional $4 per person.  The lunch will include an all-beef hot dog, potato chips, fruit roll up, cookies and an orange drink. Founded in 1991, Theatre at the Center is a year-round professional theater at its home, The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.  Theatre at the Center is conveniently located off I-80/94, just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. 
 
All performances are one hour.  Group performances are November 29-30, December 1-3, 6-10, 13 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.  The public performances will be on December 4 at 11 a.m. and December 11 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Group prices are $6.50 per student, adult tickets are $8.00 and groups of 100 or more students are only $5.50 per student and $8.00 per adult. One complimentary ticket is issued for every 25 paid student reservations. One Study Guide is also issued per Group or may be down-loaded from the theatre's website.
