1964 Returns To Beef And Boards June 6-7

The Beatles are back in both look and sound when "1964"...The Tribute returns by popular demand to Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre for concerts on June 6 and 7.

Be prepared to take a journey with Mark, Gary, Tom and Bobby (or is it John, Paul, George and Ringo?) through a quintessential moment in music history that will live forever. More than 20 years of research and performance have made "1964" masters of their craft. They are hailed by critics and fans alike as the most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute in the world. "1964" recreates an early '60s live Beatles concert, with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles, onstage banter, with an accuracy that is unmatched.

Mark Benson has perfected the character of John Lennon, including his spread-legged stance and gum chewing during songs. Right-handed Gary Grimes even learned to play the guitar left-handed so his Paul McCartney impersonation would be more authentic.

"The idea behind '1964' is to recreate what you would have seen if you had actually gone to one of their performances," Benson said.

"We've tried to generate the same feeling of happiness that is generated by the music of The Beatles," Benson added. "We get so much of this positive energy back from our audiences, it reassures us that, for now, we are where we are supposed to be."

And some of those closest to The Beatles have also been impressed. Alistair Taylor, former president of Apple Records for The Beatles, said: "The resemblance was uncanny; it sent shivers down my spine. It was just like the boys. Never have I seen another group go to such detail ... born again Beatles!"

Louise Harrison, sister of George Harrison, was so moved after seeing a "1964" performance, that she had a party in her home in their honor.

"All of the music is about love. I like the fact that parents and kids together can come and see the show," Benson said. "It's not offensive. It's good, clean fun."
