Founded by women's rights activist Manasi Pradhan, the NIRBHAYA PURUSKAR felicitates women achievers in different fields; the first round of honours were announced in 2013.

The 2017 honour list includes social-activist Kamla Bhasin, actor-activist Shabana Azmi, classical dancer and dance-activist Geeta Chandran; renowned banker Chanda Kocchar, education-activist Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath; and star sportswoman Deepa Malik.
