On the occasion of World Dance Day, dancer Geeta Chandran, is organizing a celebratory event on April 29 and 30, 2017, at the India International Centre Auditorium. The event is being organized in collaboration with Ministry of Culture and the India International Centre.

The schedule for this year's edition of Natya Vriksha Dance Company's World Dance Day Celebration 2017, curated by dancer Geeta Chandran is as follows :

DAY I : Saturday, April 29th, 2017

10am to 12noon : Everyone Can Dance - Bharatanatyam workshop by Dancer Geeta Chandran

4pm : Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan will launch DANCE IN RETROSPECT

YOUNG DANCERS FESTIVAL

6:30pm : Bharatanatyam by Aniruddha Knight

7:45pm : Kathak by Gauri Diwakar

DAY II : Sunday, April 30th, 2017 :

10am to 12noon : Chhau Workshop conducted by Guru Shashadhar Acharya 4pm : Health for Dance: Illustrated lecture by Dr. Sheela Nambiar

YOUNG DANCERS FESTIVAL

6:30pm : Manipuri by Nandita Devi

7:45pm : Vilasini Natyam by Purva Dhanasree

APRIL 29, marked around the world as the International Dance Committee of the UNESCO INTERNATIONAL THEATRE INSTITUTE introduced International Dance Day or the World Dance in 1982. The date commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, born in 1727, Noverre, a French dancer and ballet master is remembered as a great reformer of dance.
