Review: FAMOUS ACTOR ASHOK SARAF OF HUM PAANCH FAME In Marathi Play Vacuum Cleaner Remember Hum Paanch? One of the most popular shows on Indian television of all times about five sisters and their forever stressed father? Yes, Ashok Saraf, the legendary actor is also an accomplished theatre artist and he is back on the stage with a reib tickling Marathi play.

Vacuum Cleaner that was staged in theaters earlier this year in January is back by popular demand. To be staged in Mumbai this month from March 16 - March 30, the play is also a recommended watch as it highlights the talents of regional theatre in India.

The play written by famous writer Chinmay Mandlekar has Ashok Saraf and Nirmitee Sawant in lead roles. While Mandlekar brings along his finesse as a writer, the two lead actors bring in their spontaneity and humor to the play. the story revolves around a married couple played by Saraf and Sawant and how every day situations in their life take humorous yet stressful turn. The story shows many layers in a relationship that lay hidden in front of priorities and responsibilities.

What is interesting about the play is that the story delves into the love between much married couple who have been together for 28 years. It is not often that popular entertainers show a story about a mature almost non-romantic and cliched love. The characters in the play, Ranjan and Naina are able to do that. Both take each other for granted and are more critical than appreciative of each others' efforts. While Ranjan runs a business and seems affluent, the couple manage finances with a lot of tact and judgement, often without realizing that there is a solid relationship between them that is taking them through the ups and downs of life. Their two kids add both variety and character to the play and bring up the responsibilities that later years of marriage brings along. Do catch it for an important lesson that we miss in our everyday lives --- to appreciate our partners' efforts.
