BWW Previews: HIJRA HABBA at Select CITYWALK, Delhi
At one of the most popular shopping destinations in Delhi, a unique one-of-a-kind event was held recently. The evening which was titled Hijra Habba, was conceptualized and curated by Hijras on a huge scale.
The theme of the evening was equality and inclusion and prominent Hijra entrepreneurs from across the country participated in the event. A list of activities formed a part of the festival including gidda - a form of Punjabi folk dance, karagattam dance performances and there were also art stalls that were selling artworks done by various artists from the transgender community. A singing fashion show that selected Trans Queen was also selected. Community leaders like Lakshmi Tripathi also gave motivational speech.
The evening was a stepping stone to give the community confidence and make them feel included in the mainstream.
