It won't be an exaggeration to say that India has one of the most varied folk cultures around the world. With as plethora of languages and customs every community has its own traditional history and to delve into the folk practices of each one of them can be a delightfully engaging experience.

In a growing 'look inwards,' realization, a lot of millennials are now looking at history and the unique perspective it brought along. A new festival bringing to fore the folk richness of India has been planned. The festival will be held at the very important and famous tourist destination in India -- the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.

Titled, SOWS or Sounds on White Sands the three day long festival will begin from Jan 25. there are a lot of promising offerings that are planned for three days of unadulterated musical joy. So, there will be Bangla Qawwali by the Murshidabadi Project. This lesser known form of Qawwali is mostly known in West Bengal and can be a great way to engage in an alternate form of music for those who may be hearing it for the first time.

There are six other bands that are a part of the festival which includes Mukt, Folk Masti, Musica Collaborative from Mumbai, Folk Box from Ahmedabad and Folk Foundation from Kolkata. This is the second edition of the festival that is an open for all event. So, any one who is in Rann of Kutch can attend the event and listen to lilting music where the folk ragas come together with rock and create a new but uniquely Indian Symphony.
