You wanna know what the future looks like?

Samantha does. Seventeen, maybe pregnant and hopelessly alone, Sam can’t fight the feeling that a dark force is pushing her towards disaster. Her dad means well but is literally (and figuratively) asleep -- her big sister doesn’t mean well and isn’t apologizing for it - and her boyfriend? He’s got a bright future that does NOT include Sam or their hypothetical unborn child. Then Sam meets Hudson, a Satan-loving heavy-metal wannabe musician, who seems to understand her pain -- and more importantly, shares her crippling sense of impending doom.

Clouds gather, lightning strikes and heavy metal rocks in this daring new musically-charged play about the void in all of us.

Playwright Mark Schultz wrote this story based on a bold, strange premise: “...what would it be to write a play that wasn’t about the Devil, but somehow was the Devil?” Curious what that means? Let Horse Head show you this July.

This programming is rated PG-13 for mature themes. Children under age 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

General Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is first come first serve for ticket holders. All unclaimed tickets will be released at 7:50 pm. No late seating past 8:00 pm. The on-site box office opens at 7:15 pm. While this event is free to the public, it is not free to produce. Horse Head needs your support to continue as a vibrant nonprofit organization and humbly asks that those who can donate to our cause. If you would like to donate, please do so when registering for the event or on our website, horseheadtheatre.org. All ticket sales and donations are final.

Evocation to Visible Appearance was commissioned by the Actors Theatre of Louisville and premiered at the 2018 Humana Festival.
