Theatre Under The Stars Humphreys School of Musical Theatre Announces Spring Classes

Spring into the New Year with TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre's new spring curriculum for the whole family, of all ages and skill levels! Beginning in January, HSMT offers a variety of musical theatre classes including, Spring Performance Studio, and classes for adults! Participants will develop confidence, foster language arts, increase physical coordination, promote cooperative ensemble attitudes and expand social skills during the rehearsal and performance process. Adults can mix entertainment, education and exercise with Ballet Boot Camp and Cardio Tap.

Since 1972, the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, the official training wing of Theatre Under The Stars, has provided a superb and thrilling forum for musical theatre training for children and adults. Housed in the TUTS Studios at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, its year-round schedule is conducted by an outstanding professional faculty and renowned resident artists who inspire and train students in every aspect of musical theatre, from vocal technique and choreography to costume design and prop construction.

PERFORMANCE STUDIOS

Teach your children the fun of singing, dancing, and acting to favorite Broadway hits. Students develop musical theatre performance skills at all levels by rehearsing an age-appropriate, fast-track salute to a Broadway musical. At the end of their eight-week session, students present an informal showcase. Each student is involved in the creative process of staging and choreography, as well as costumes and props. This class meets Saturday mornings Jan. 9 - Mar. 13.

HIP HOP

Houston dance legend, Alex Arizpe, is back with his amazing moves in this 10-week ONLY Hip Hop Course. Don't miss the chance to dance with a Houston master. You will learn moves that you never thought you could do! This class meets on Saturday mornings Jan.9 - Mar. 13

ADULT PROGRAMMING

 

BALLET BOOT CAMP Program is designed to help the student slim, strengthen, tone and refine the entire body with a unique combination of traditional ballet conditioning and tough muscle toning. This class is planned for both dancers and non-dancers.

Dates: Wednesdays from Jan. 6 - Mar. 31, 2010 (No class Mar. 17).

Time: 10:30-11:30am

Cost: You may purchase two price levels for Ballet Boot Camp

Price 1 - $15 per class

Price 2 - $160 for 12 classes

*This class includes parking in the Hobby Center garage if you sign up for the entire 12 weeks.*

CARDIO TAP Students receive a cardio workout in a fast-paced, high energy tap class. You will learn to improve memory work through tap steps. The class is designed for tappers and non-tappers to enjoy a cardio workout with their tap shoes during the lunch break hour.

Dates: Wednesdays from Jan. 6 - Mar. 31, 2010

Time: 11:30am-12:30pm

Cost: You may purchase two price levels for Cardio Tap
