Summer Musical Comes Back To Stage After Harvey

Just like the rest of Houston, the Rogue team carefully monitored the news during Harvey, but not just for the safety of their families, friends and homes, also for the future of their company.

Their second ever show, I Love You Because, A Modern Day Musical Love Story (ILYB), was scheduled to open in September 2017, just weeks after Harvey made an appearance. One pre-show fundraiser was canceled as streets across the city began to flood and then the show itself was canceled as word from their rented theater space came--the theater had taken on water.

While the Rogue team rolled up their sleeves to get busy helping Houston clean up, they readjusted plans for this show. Now, almost one full year later, they are bringing it back to the stage.

"We are so excited about finally getting to do this show," said Rachael Logue, director of ILYB and co-artistic director of Rogue. "We took a pretty hard hit when we had to postpone this piece thanks to Harvey, and as such a small company it took us quite a while to regain momentum."

ILYB will open on July 6 at Studio 101, 1824 Spring St Studios. The show, inspired by Pride and Prejudice, is styled as a classic romantic-comedy. Underneath the fluff however, there are messages on dating in today's world. The show will also offer creative staging to bring it close to home, including some on stage seating for guests that may even get a drink served to them during the performance.
