Stageworks Theatre is thrilled to announce its first show of the new season, Noises Off, by Michael Frayn, directed by Sean Thompson. The show will run August 25 through September 17, 2017 on Stageworks Theatre's Garza Mainstage. Written by English playwright Michael Frayne, Noises Off has been hailed as "the funniest farce ever written." It presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a theatre flop called Nothing's On. On and offstage intrigue and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classical comedy.

Get your tickets to come see why The New York Times claims it's "the most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is festival of delirium." Director Sean Thompson agrees. "I've loved Noises Off ever since I first saw it on stage in England many (many) years ago. There's something about the 'slamming door comedy' that just showcases the height of human humor. All the pieces-characters, set, costumes, blocking, pacing-have to fit together like a finely tuned pocket watch and run as smoothly. Directing a show like this is an honor for me to be sure! "Our production has one particular unique slant to it: we're setting Nothing On (the 'show within the show') in 1971, which is the year the first real British bedroom farce, 'No Sex, Please, We're British' came out. Our set, costumes, hairstyles, and music reflect the era, so we're a tad more 'groovy' than your typical production."

The talented cast includes Nora Hahn (Dotty/Clackett), Shawn Havranek (Lloyd Dallas), Matthew Meehan (Garry/Roger), Rebecca Lewis, (Brooke/Vicki), Jonathan Moonen (Freddie/Philip), Amanda Maynard (Belinda/Flavia), Sarah Finch (Poppy), Patrick Barton (Tim), and Adam Traylor (Selsdon). Behind the scenes, the production team includes, Sean Thompson (director), Ellen Girdwood (costume design), Joseph Reyes (stage manager), Ben Mason (set design), Michael Montgomery (artistic director), David Dean (sound design), and Ron Putterman (lighting design).
