Matthew Morrison Headlines Houston Symphony's CENTENNIAL BALL Tonight

The Houston Symphony welcomes TV and Broadway celebrity Matthew Morrison for the organization's Centennial Ball, scheduled for tonight, May 17, 2014. Morrison is well-known for his portrayal of a high school teacher on Fox's Glee and is an acclaimed Broadway performer and recording artist. Morrison will be featured in a special performance with the Houston Symphony under the baton of conductor Steven Reineke.

The Ball, typically an early spring fundraiser, was moved to May to be the Symphony's grand finale fundraising event of its Centennial Season. For the first time ever, the glamorous white-tie soiree will be held at the Houston Symphony's home, Jones Hall, with an unprecedented stage extension completely transforming the space to allow for a concert, seated dinner and dancing inside the hall.

"Speaking on behalf of the members of the Mach Family who are chairing the Centennial Ball and includes my husband, Harry, along with our son, Steve, and our daughter-in-law, Joella, I could not be more excited about having Golden Globe, Tony and Emmy Award nominated performer, Matthew Morrison, as our headline guest artist," said Cora Sue Mach. "He will join conductor, Steven Reineke and the Houston Symphony Musicians for a performance that will appeal to all generations. Most people know Matthew through his role on the hit TV show, Glee, but Houstonians will long remember him for his performance at this 'Once-in-a-Lifetime' event for our great City."
