Mariam Khalili Appointed Managing Director Of Houston Chamber Choir The Board of Directors of the Houston Chamber Choir is pleased to announce the appointment of Mariam Khalili as its Managing Director. Khalili has extensive experience in managing, marketing and fundraising for performing arts nonprofits in Houston.

Most recently Khalili was Executive Director of Opera in the Heights. In that capacity, she drafted and executed an emergency appeal soliciting individual gifts, raising more money for the company in five weeks than had been raised in any fiscal year in the company's history for individual giving.

Houston Chamber Choir Board President William McKenzie, who chaired the search committee, eagerly anticipates the positive impact she will have on the Choir. "We are delighted to welcome Ms. Khalili to the Houston Chamber Choir and look forward to employing the breadth and depth of her experience to take the Choir into its next stage of growth."

Khalili is equally enthusiastic. "Houston Chamber Choir is poised for even greater artistic accomplishments in the coming years, and I am thrilled to be a part of the team," she says. "The board and staff are composed of smart and talented individuals, who have a shared vision for our organization. I hope to build on its already stellar reputation to help take Houston Chamber Choir to new heights."

Now in its 22nd season, the Houston Chamber Choir is the 2015 winner of the American Prize, Professional Choral Division, and cited by the Houston Chronicle as "one of the jewels of this city's cultural scene." The Choir is comprised of 26 professionally trained musicians selected through rigorous auditions from the finest singers in the region.

Founder and Artistic Director Robert Simpson was honored by Chorus America with the Michael Korn Founders Award for his contributions to developing the professional choral art. "I am thrilled Mariam is joining us," Simpson remarks. "She is astute, creative, and fully committed to the mission and goals we have set forth for the Choir. Our future has never been brighter."
