KVPAC to Host CALL IT SUNSHINE Benefit for Katy Area Flood Victims

By:

Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) has organized a benefit on Friday, April 29 at 7:00pm at KVPAC's main location on South Mason Road, to help local victims of the recent flooding. The special performance is a musical variety show titled Call It Sunshine, showcasing some of Katy's most musically talented residents.

Tickets are $20 and are available on-line or at the door. All proceeds raised from the event will go directly to Katy Christian Ministries (KCM), as Katy families turn to them for support in times of need.

"As Katy's community theatre, the staff felt very strongly about doing something to help," said Gregory Magyar, KVPAC's Executive Artistic Director. "Since KCM is so directly and immediately involved in helping those most impacted in our community, we thought it would be the perfect place to start."

Monday's billion-gallon rain storm caused such severe flooding that both Harris and Fort Bend counties (among others) were declared a state of disaster by the governor. Many homes took in water and even more are left without power. In conjunction withFriday's benefit performance, KVPAC has also organized a Restaurant Gift Card Drive for KCM so families without power or access to their flooded kitchens can take their families out for a hot meal. We are encouraging the general public to donate restaurant gift cards. Gift cards can be dropped off at KVPAC during business hours Mondaythrough Friday, 8:30am to 7:00pm, or an ear-marked donation can be made on-line atwww.kvpac.org at any time.

For more information about the Call It Sunshine Benefit, visit the KVPAC website at www.kvpac.org or call 281.829.2787. KVPAC is a 501c3 non-profit arts education organization serving the Katy community since 2001. We are located at 2501 S Mason Rd, # 290, Katy, TX 77450 in the Great Southwest Equestrian Center Complex. Our second location is inside the West Oaks Mall at 2600 Hwy 6 South, Houston, TX 77082, Suite # 504.
