Events Announced for Houston's THE OKTOBER FESTIVAL

Enjoy family friendly entertainment packed with live music, dance, and culture during the Centennial Oktober Festival. Each day has a different program and will include something for everyone.

Oktober Festival Day One : OCT 06, 12:00pm - 5:00pm

The true celebration kicks-off on the 6th of October with our festival full of fun and games that begins at 12 P.M. We welcome families and kids of all ages to come help us celebrate this magical moment in Czech history. Our entertainment includes different booths around our museum with activities like face-painting, balloon animals, and a snack & kolache station generously provided to us by the Kolache Factory. A visiting puppeteer who has a vast knowledge of Czech marionettes will put on an enchanting show for our audience and explain how marionettes have been a significant part of the Central European culture.

Oktober Festival Day Two: OCT 20, 6:00pm - 11:00pm

On the third Saturday of October, we will be hosting a night full of festivities to continue celebrating the centennial event. The Czech and Slovak cultures have deep-rooted traditions that go beyond one hundred years of history. We will be serving a dinner full of traditional European dishes. An open bar will be available stocked with a variety of refreshments that include fine wine and original Czech beers. For our guests with young children, we will be providing family-friendly entertainment for the kids

Oktober Festival Day Three: OCT 28, 1:00pm - 6:00pm

On October 28th, 1918, Czechoslovakia became its own country. We will be celebrating this glorious day almost exactly one hundred years later in our closing event of our month- long celebration. We encourage the public to come dressed in their version of 1920's attire. Our fun-filled afternoon will begin at 1 PM and includes a full schedule of musical entertainment, delicious Chlebicky, and some Czech related activities. We will treat our guests to a fashion show of different traditional Czech clothing called the Kroj. Also, we'll see how well the public knows their American Wine from their Czech alcohol.We invite people of all ages and backgrounds to come help us celebrate these vibrant Eastern European cultures in one of the most diverse cities in America.
