It seems that the nation is catching on to what many Houstonians already know - ComedySportz, Houston's longest running show, is the premiere destination for improv training. Paste Magazine recently named ComedySportz one of 8 Great Comedy Schools from Around the Nation, a list which includes comedic stalwarts The Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Groundlings. The entire article can be found at here.

Of all the illustrious names that appear on Greg Smith's list, ComedySportz is the only organization that is "geared towards those who are interested in improving [their] people skills and self-confidence in life... not just actors and comedians." ComedySportz classes are regularly comprised of students from all walks of life - from those pursuing a performance career to those just looking to step outside their comfort zone. Regardless of age and experience, students enjoy learning improvisation skills and exploring spontaneity with seasoned professionals in a safe and positive environment. Students will feel more comfortable handling life's unpredictable nature after ComedySportz classes, and are guaranteed to have fun while learning!

ComedySportz adult classes are taught on Monday and Tuesday evenings throughout the year. Improv 101, the introductory workshop, emphasizes basic improvisational skills. Participants can then move on to the advanced class, Improv 201, where they will continue to hone their craft. Adults who have completed both classes are eligible to join the ComedySportz REC League, an amateur troupe that practices weekly and performs on the last Sunday of each month.

Camps for kids are offered throughout the summer months, and consist of week-long daytime sessions designed to get kids ages 8-12 and teens ages 13-17 up on their feet and having fun. Seasoned ComedySportz professionals teach each class, and participants are led through various improv activities and games that work on and incorporate the skills that are used in improvisational comedy, including focus, concentration, teamwork, space work (using your environment in scenes), trust and scene work. You will learn to be fearless and have fun on stage! Laughter and positive vibes are guaranteed.

All classes are held at The ComedySportz Arena, 901 Town & Country Blvd. (I-10 West and the Sam Houston Tollway), and all classes and camps culminate in a special public performance at the ComedySportz Arena.
