Classical Theatre to Present WHY CUPID CAME TO EARL'S COURT Reading, 2/13

The Classical Theatre Company (CTC) presents the second installment of this year's Reading Series with a staged reading of Cosmo Hamilton's Why Cupid Came to Earl's Court, directed by CTC's Associate Artist Kalob Martinez. The performance will be presented on Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00pm at the Brazos Bookstore. A pre and post wine reception and a shopping open house will accompany the reading starting at 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Why Cupid Came to Earl's Court is a short, one act, romantic comedy perfect for a pre-Valentine's Day outing. The play takes place over the course of one evening in the Robertson's family sitting room on Earl's Court Road. As the Robertson family eagerly awaits the news of their son Henry's recent doctoral exam the Robertson's Daughter Phyllis and her friends play at cards. The action picks up dramatically when the young Albert slips Phyllis a note asking her to please leave the room and guard the door so that he can propose to her friend Beryl. Phyllis proceeds to read the note aloud for all Present Company to hear. At the same time Henry returns home and the evening quickly spirals into a series of different proposals and culminates with a surprise visit from Cupid himself.

The Classical Theatre Company is dedicated to being the preeminent producer of classical theatre in the nation, presenting the classical canon on the stage, in the community, and in the classroom in an engaging, visceral, and visually spectacular way.
