How do you measure a year? Bayou City Theatrics, Houston's newest musical theatre company, asks this question through their pay-what-you-will performance of RENT (book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson) on New Year's Eve. The show is staged in a concert-style, allowing the audience to focus on the brilliant music, by the late Jonathan Larson, which made the musical a worldwide phenomenon.

"We have assembled a brilliant cast of vocalists that embody the heart and soul of Larson's incredible score," says Colton Berry, Artistic Director of Bayou City Theatrics. "From Mark's first 'December Twenty-First' to the iconic 'Seasons of Love' to Collins uttering his final "I'll cover you" in his beautifully heartbreaking reprise, every line of RENT that has held the hearts of people worldwide for decades are brought fully to life in our production."

RENT is a fundraiser for Bayou City Theatrics' ambitious and incredible line up of musicals in their inaugural season, including Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, the Houston premiere of Xanadu, A Chorus Line, Big River and Avenue Q. The performance features the remarkable voices of Jake Bevill, Scott Lupton, Matt Johnson, Misty Russo, Ronna Mansfield, Wendy Taylor, Bryan Burleigh, Colton Berry, Eric Briggs, Josie Arias, Crystyl Swanson, Luke Hamilton and Derrien Kellum.

RENT will be performed at The Stag's Head Pub, 2128 Portsmouth Street, December 31. Dinner will be served at 9:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 11:00 p.m. Intermission will include a champagne toast and a countdown to the New Year with the cast. Dinner includes hot and crispy chicken tenders with various sauces, English pork sausages wrapped in flakey pastry, ham, turkey and grilled chicken baguette sandwiches, slices of pepperoni, grilled chicken, spinach and feta, and Margherita pizzas, and fresh vegetables with ranch, blue cheese and honey mustard sauces.
