Alley Theatre Adds VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE to 2013-14 Season

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the addition of the 2013 Tony Award-winning Best Play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, by Christopher Durang, to the Alley Theatre's 2013-2014 season as the last Hubbard Stage production. Good People, by David Lindsay-Abaire, will be performed on the Neuhaus Stage from May 30 to June 29, 2014. Bertolt Brecht's The Good Woman of Setzuan will be moved to a future season.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, the irresistible new comedy by Christopher Durang, won both the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award, and is currently a smash-hit on Broadway. Vanya and his sister Sonia live a quiet life in The Farmhouse where they grew up. But their sister Masha escaped many years ago and became a famous movie star! When Masha returns unannounced with her 20-something boy toy, Spike, so begins an unforgettable weekend of rivalry, regret, and generally hilarious racket. Based on the infamous 1924 trial of Leopold and Loeb, Never the Sinner is their story, and the story of one of the most famous American lawyers and civil libertarians, Clarence Darrow.
