ABBA The Concert Coming to Jones Hall, 12/6
ABBA The Concert, a tribute to Sweden's most famous band, will come to Houston for one night only, Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at 8 p.m. in Jones Hall, presented by Society for the Performing Arts.
ABBA The Concert is a live, two-hour musical extravaganza that follows the quartet through songs from its Eurovision beginnings in 1974 with such hits as "Dancing Queen," "S.O.S.," "Money, Money, Money," "The Winner Takes All" and more.
ABBA The Concert was formed in 1996 and has always featured an original member of the ABBA rhythm section including legendary bass guitarist Mike Watson, guitarists Mats Ronander, Lasse Wellander and Janne Schaffer and drummers Ola Brunkert and Roger Palm. The original ABBA formed in 1970 with Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog. he group achieved international success as one of the best-selling pop groups in history, with more than 370 million records sold. The music of ABBA has proved its staying power through the Broadway musical Mamma Mia!, still a worldwide favorite which was made into a feature film starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan in 2008.
