Kumu Kahua Theatre will Announce New Season May 6

Kumu Kahua Theatre, dedicated to producing works by Hawai‘i writers and about Hawai‘i's culture, will announce their 42nd season at a press conference on Sunday, May 6th at 5:00 PM at their home on the corner Merchant and Bethel Streets.

Kumu Kahua Theatre welcomed donors to private performances of the Sean T.C. O'Malley world premiere of WILCOX'S SHOT on Friday and Saturday nights. The guests were formally welcomed, recognized and thanked and treated to a pre-show announcement of Kumu Kahua's 42nd season, which has yet to be announced publicly.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth presents the Hawaii premier of MAY DAY IS LEI DAY, a musical play celebrating the global history of springtime celebration and the ways in which the local culture has placed its own imprint on the tradition. Opening night is Friday March 30 at 7:30 p.m., with subsequent shows on Saturdays March 31, April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5 at 4:30 p.m. All shows are at Tenney Theatre on the grounds of The Cathedral of St. Andrew.

O'Malley's latest work Wilcox's Shot, a study of one of Hawaiian history's most interesting figures, on Thursday, Friday & Saturdays at 8 p.m on March 29, 30, 31 and April 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28; and Sundays at 2 p.m. on April 1, 15, 22, 29, 2012 (no show on April 8, due to Easter).

ProArts will present "The Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie, the longest running play ever, as the first show of their Spring season which will continue through May this year. The murder mystery, now in its 60th year, originally opened in 1952 in London and has been playing continuously since then.

It will be an evening of art, food, drink and fun, with live drawing, gourmet pupu and wine from Whole Foods, and music by Stephanie Keiko Kong, followed by a performance of the current production, Saturday Night at the Pahala Theatre.
