Kumu Kahua Theatre Presents 38 MINUTES- A BALLISTIC MISSILE TALE At 8:07 AM on January 13, 2018, residents of Hawaii were informed that they were under the threat of an inbound ballistic missile. Shortly after that day Kumu Kahua Theatre broadcasted a call for submissions from playwrights inspired by that Saturday morning.

Presented by an ensemble of actors, 38 Minutes' first act is a culmination of select scenes and monologues that were submitted. The second act is improvised, shaped by audience feedback on their experiences of those 38 minutes, directed and facilitated by the skilled and experienced directorial duo, Monica and Squire Coldwell.

Our production program is now available online. We also have printed programs for you, but have added this feature for those of you who would like to see the program before you get here, and those who prefer not to have a hardcopy at all (we will be happy to eventually reduce the number we print accordingly).

As seasoned actors and directors know, not being cast in a show doesn't mean you aren't talented or that you didn't do a great job at auditions, it simply means that what you brought to the table wasn't a good fit for that particular show. The same applies to the scripts that were submitted in answer to our call after January 13th. We simply couldn't use most of them in this show, though they all have their own merit.

In case you'd like to read all of the scripts that were submitted, we have produced a book for you. You can purchase a copy of all 25 scripts for $10 when you come to see the show!
