Kumu Kahua Theatre Has A Teachers Hospitality Night

All Middle, High School, College and University teachers--whether working at state, private or charter schools--are invited with a guest to a free hospitality night in the theatre at 46 Merchant Street on Wednesday, January 25 at 6pm.

The program will consist of two parts, an introductory 'trailer' to the two new plays for Spring – Sean O'Malley's Wilcox's Shot (playing March 29 to April 29), and Alani Apio's K?mau A'e (playing May 31 to July 1) – and a complete preview performance of an adaptation of Lois-Ann Yamanaka's Saturday Night at the P?hala Theatre opening the following day.  Between these two events, light refreshments will be served and the teachers and theatre folks can hopefully get acquainted.

The presentations will focus on how the plays were conceived and developed by the playwrights, and developed by directors and theatre personnel, and will be led by the two playwrights and directors.  We'll also introduce samples of our ED GUIDE for theatre groups – for we expect that teacher interest in the forthcoming productions will generate school groups taking advantage of our generous discount rates of $5 for students Thursday and Friday nights.
