Hawai'i Pacific University to Present HERITAGE, 4/4 - 4/27
An ensemble play, "Heritage" tells the story of Abraham Lincoln in a very different light. Spanning three generations, we discover the strength of character of the women and men who shaped the life of our sixteenth President, and the unmistakable impression that they each left upon his life and legacy.
Heritage, by P.J. Barry and directed by Joyce Maltby, is presented at HPU's Paul and Vi Loo Theater from April 4 - 27.
Narrated throughout by Jim Tharp, this talented cast of eight ensemble actors play dozens of characters, taking us on a journey into America's history. While he never appears in the play, Lincoln is a constant presence as we follow his story from the young Lucy Hanks, his maternal grandmother, to his marriage to Mary Todd and his life in the White House.
The cast includes Jim Tharp (Narrator), Hailey Farah (Lucy Hanks), Beth E. Barry (Nancy Hanks Lincoln), Rasa Fournier (Sarah Bush Johnston), Rachelle Gesselman (Ann Rutledge), and Melinda Maltby (Mary Todd Lincoln)
The men - Henry Sparrow, Tom Lincoln, James Rutledge, Ninian Edwards, Stephen A. Douglas, John Wilkes Booth, and more, performed by Joel McClure, S. Rick Crump, & Samuel Filbeck.
Performances are Friday - Sunday, April 4, 5, 6; Thurs - Sunday, April 10 - 13; Thurs - Sunday, April 17 - 20; and Thurs - Sunday, April 24 - 27. Performances times are Thursday, Friday, Saturday - 7:30 pm and Sundays - 4:00 pm.
General Admission tickets are $20; Seniors, Military, Students, HPU faculty/staff $15; HPU Students $ 5. Discounts available for Thursday performances.
Hawai'i Pacific University's Paul and Vi Loo Theatre is located on the windward Hawaii Loa Campus at 45-045 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, directly across from the Pali Golf course entrance.
