Women: Please bring flat dance shoes or dance sneakers, street clothes, and wear little to no makeup.
Men: Bring flat dance shoes or dance sneakers and street clothes
Please be warmed up and ready to dance at the time of the call. Please bring sheet music to a contemporary pop song and your book of music, as you may be asked to stay and sing.
Please bring a picture and resume, STAPLED TOGETHER.
The songs of the pop group ABBA provide the score for this romantic comedy that contrasts the dreams and desires of a young woman about to become a bride with those of her mother, a free spirit of the 70s who never married. MAMMA MIA! takes place at a taverna on a Greek island.
Seeking:
Strong dancers:
Men and women, early 20s, with a contemporary, hip look who sing well. Some featured male ensemble roles have dance specialties for which Russian split jumps and acrobatics are a plus. DANCERS SHOULD BE OF ALL RACES, ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS, AND SIZES.
Seeking the following ensemble roles:
Ali:
(18-25) Sophie’s friend. Impulsive and fun. Should contrast to Lisa and Sophie. Should sing and dance well. Featured ensemble role. Also seeking ALI understudies to be in the ensemble.
Lisa:
(18-25) Sophie’s friend who arrives to be a bridesmaid. Very energetic and kooky. Should be African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native American or any non-Caucasian young woman. Should sing and dance well. Featured ensemble role. Also seeking LISA understudies to be in the ensemble.
Pepper:
(early to mid-20s) Sky’s friend. Helps run the hotel. Charming, loves women, always flirting. Must be a good mover/dancer, able to do Russian split jumps. Acrobatic skills a plus. Baritone/tenor. Featured ensemble role. Also seeking PEPPER understudies to be in the ensemble.
Eddie:
(early to mid-20s) Another friend of Sky’s and hotel worker. Laid-back, easygoing. Also a mover/dancer role. Baritone/tenor. Featured ensemble role. Also seeking EDDIE understudies to be in the ensemble.
Dynamo Understudies:
(30s) Females with great pop voices, comedic skills and move well to be in the ensemble and understudy the Dynamos (DONNA, ROSIE, TANYA). Ensemble roles.
Dad Understudies:
(30s) Males with great pop voices, comedic skills and move well to be in the ensemble and understudy the Dads (SAM, BILL, HARRY.) Ensemble roles.
