Seeking actors with a classical background and significant fight experience (both men and women).
D’ARTAGNON:
20-something actor who plays 18. He is Youth. He is Hope. He is cocky and impetuous. He has all the traits you would expect of a young hero, and he’s rebellious enough to make them interesting. A country boy ready to make his mark in the world and become a Musketeer. Exceptional swordsman.
SABINE:
20-something actress who plays 16-17. Plucky, tomboy sister to D’Artagnon who accompanies him to Paris. Just as impetuous, but she has a reasonable and feminine side too. Falls for Aramis. Actress must be a skilled swordsperson as she is part of the play's climactic stage fight.
ARAMIS:
30-something. Handsome Musketeer who has genuine hopes for a life in the church. Two things, however, stand in his way: he has a hot temper and he loves to be around beautiful women. He is romantic and has the flourish of a great hero. Must have superior fight skills.
PORTHOS:
30-something. Bacchus brought to life but with a good heart. He drinks and lives life to its fullest. He’s extremely vain and quite a dandy, but he can afford to be. Comic and insouciant. Must have superior fight skills.
ATHOS:
30-something. The most serious and dangerous of the Musketeers. He is gravely intelligent with the courage of a lion. His serious demeanor masks the pain of a broken heart deep in his past. He is precise and surgical. Must have superior fight skills.
MILADY:
30s. The most dangerous woman in all of France. Her cunning is legendary. She’s remarkably beautiful and impeccably dressed. She has access to great power and never utters an ill-chosen word. Actress must be an exceptional swordsperson as she is part of the play’s climactic stage fight.
CONSTANCE:
20-ish. Beautiful young woman who is Lady in Waiting to the Queen. She is youthful and graceful but has a practical side too. Falls in love with D’Artagnon.
QUEEN ANNE:
30-40. Originally from Spain, Anne of Austria is a handsome woman with the fine porcelain beauty of royalty. She is intelligent and resourceful, and unfortunately married to an inept monarch.
KING LOUIS XIII:
30-40. He is not unintelligent, but rather enthusiastic and a bit petulant. He’s a man who tries very hard to live up to his title, but he generally feels beleaguered and is always trying to catch up those around him. He leads a life of unbelievable splendor. Doubles as several others, including D’Artagnon’s Father, and must therefore have excellent fight skills.
ROCHEFORT:
35-45. The Cardinal’s chief henchman and Captain of the Cardinal’s Guard. Dark and dangerous, he has an eye patch and a hideous scar down his right cheek. Though he is a comic foil to the Cardinal, he remains a threat to the Musketeers. Doubles as Stanley, valet to the Duke of Buckingham. Must have superior fight skills.
TREVILLE:
40-50. Trainer of the King’s Musketeers. Impatient but supportive of their cause. A friend to D’Artagnon’s father. Doubles as Buckingham, Ravanche, DeBris, and others. Must have good fight skills and ability to function as a variety of characters.
