This drama follows the story of Juliana Smithton, a scientist who is on the verge of a breakthrough but whose life is becoming increasingly confusing.

Preparation
Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, preferably no more than three minutes in length.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Breakdown

This drama follows the story of Juliana Smithton, a scientist who is on the verge of a breakthrough but whose life is becoming increasingly confusing.

This call is for replacements only.

Roles:

Juliana: Any ethnicity, 50s. Brilliant researcher, sometimes abrasive but passionate.

Ian: Any ethnicity. Juliana’s husband, early 50s, an oncologist.

The Woman: Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 30s. Portrays multiple roles.

The Man: Any ethnicity, late 30s. Portrays multiple roles.


Theatre’s statement: “All ethnicities strongly encouraged to attend.”

Note from Equity: When casting personnel state that a role has been formally offered and accepted, Equity audition notices list the role as “CAST”.

Directions to the Oakes Center, provided by the Theatre: “Take NJ Transit, either bus or train, to the downtown Summit stop. Walk down Broad Street approximately ½ mile, make a right on Ashwood (dry cleaner on corner). Make first left onto Morris Avenue. Theatre is on corner between Ashwood and Russell. Enter in Russell Place alley on side of building.”
