You will receive a phone call confirming your audition time.
Audition slots are FIVE (5) minutes long. Each actor has a minimum of TWO (2) minutes to perform required audition material.
Actors auditioning for ON THE TOWN: please prepare 32 bars of ONE (1) song in the style of the show. Songs from the show are acceptable. Also prepare ONE (1) short comedicmonologue, contemporary or classical. An accompanist will be provided.
Actors auditioning for THE MIKADO: please prepare 32 bars of ONE (1) song from an opera or operetta. Songs from the show are acceptable.
Actors auditioning for both shows may sing two songs, one appropriate for each show, or sing one song, and perform one monologue.

Please bring a headshot & resume to the audition, stapled together. Also, please bring your sheet music.
Note: No housing is available to out-of-area performers.
Auditions for the remaining show in The Lyric Stage Company of Boston’s 2012-13 season will be announced at a later date.

THE MIKADO OF JAPAN: Bass, cheerfully bloodthirsty,
NANKI-POO: His Son, disguised as a wandering minstrel, in love with Yum-Yum, Tenor, looks like a typical romantic love interest, but controls others to get what he wants.
KO-KO: Lord High Executioner of Titipu – Comic
Baritone – charming and simple, though he thinks himself clever – he must rise to the occasion to save his village and himself.
POOH-BAH: Lord High Everything Else – Bass-Baritone – delightfully pompous and corrupt bureaucrat.
PISH-TUSH: A Noble Lord – B
aritone or B
ass-Baritone – class-conscious, but friendly.
YUM-YUM: A Ward of Ko-Ko, also engaged to Ko-Ko – S
oprano – perfect romantic love interest, also charming monster of egotism.
PITTI-SING: Ward of Ko-Ko, sister of Yum-Yum and Peep-Bo – Mezzo-soprano – lively Gal Friday-type.
PEEP-BO: Ward of Ko-Ko, sister of Yum-Yum and Pitti-Sing – Soprano or Mezzo-soprano – kinda wacky.
KATISHA: An Elderly lady, in love with Nanki-Poo – C
ontralto – terrifying, controlling woman, but secretly vulnerable and lonely.
Chorus of School-Girls, Nobles, Guards, Bunraku Puppetmasters, etc.
(Some roles will be doubled).

HILDY ESTER: Soprano, confident, brash, taxi driver
CLAIRE DE LOONE: Soprano, elegant, intellectual, anthropologist,
IVY SMITH: Mezzo Soprano, naïve, shy, ambitious, small town girl trying to make it in NYC, strong dancer
MADAME MAUDE P. DILLY: Character Mezzo Soprano, loud, confident, world-wary, Ivy’s singing teacher.
JUDGE PITKIN W. BRIDGEWORK: Bass, 45 years old, serious, gullible, slightly ridiculous, Claire’s fiancé.
Other roles will be played by chorus members.
