BREAKDOWN

Lady Bracknell, 55-60+: domineering, quick witted and cunning, mercenary and snobbish. She’s Gwendolen’s mother, and she means to see her daughter well-married. A formidable woman, Lady Bracknell is used to having her own way in all ways.

Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D. (Doctor of Divinity), 50+: a pleasant rector on Jack’s estate, who has a crush on Miss Prism.

Miss Prism, 45+: Cecily’s governess. She’s somewhat pedantic and puritanical, but her softer side shows a deeper passion, one which leans toward Dr. Chasuble. She once wrote an important novel.

Note: The roles of Jack, Algernon, Gwendolen, Cecily, and Lane/Merriman will be cast with University of Iowa students.
