PREPARATION
Please prepare 32-bars of a classical musical theatre song and a 1-minute contemporary monologue. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring clean sheet music in your correct key, with cuts clearly marked. No acapella singing or recorded backing tracks.

THE GOLEM'S GIFT
SYNOPSIS: Inspired by Jewish folklore, The Golem's Gift (book and lyrics by Benny Zelkowicz and music by Ezra Weiss) tells the story of a man made of clay who is sent into the world with one impossible mission: repair what is broken. Along the way, he discovers the power of friendship, hope, and small acts of kindness that can change lives in unexpected ways.

ENSEMBLE: 6 actors with strong classical musical theater vocal technique to play a variety of characters including:
THE BAKER: F (Alto or Mezzo). Ruth's harried mother, who only wants the best for her child, but cannot imagine a life other than the difficult one she has known.
DOV: M. (Tenor) A welcoming villager
ELIMELECH: M. (Bass/Baritone) A village elder, married to Malka, comedic
MALKA: F. (Soprano) A villager elder, married to Elimelech, comedic
REUVEN: M. (Baritone) A friend of Dov.
