BREAKDOWN

While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out” trip to a male strip club, a group of unemployed Buffalo steelworkers come up with a bold way to make some quick cash by stripping. Based on the cult film of the same name, this ten-time Tony Award nominee is filled with heart.

There is very brief full nudity in the show. All actors need to be comfortable with their bodies to be in various stages of undress.

SEEKING:

DAVE (Male, 30s-40s) He is an unemployed steel worker. He is a lovable, good natured soul with some body weight and self-esteem issues. Actors must be comfortable with your belly to proudly wield it with all its pride and glory. Lyric tenor with falsetto.

GEORGIE (Female, 30s-40s) Dave’s wife. She is loving, warm and down to earth, as well as a sassy spitfire and supportive wife. High alto/mezzo belter.

MALCOLM (Male, 25-30s) He is shy and awkward. His friends are worried about his mental state, but he transforms from desperately lonely to deeply loving. High tenor with smooth falsetto.

ETHAN (Male, 25-30s) He is optimistic and energetic. He has farm boy good looks and is well-built and athletic. He’s not a great dancer, but he’ll try anything. High baritone/tenor.

NOAH “HORSE” T. SIMMONS (Male, 50s) A retired African American steel worker, with a gentle demeanor. Actors must be excellent movers with great deadpan comic timing. Baritone/Tenor.

PAM (Female, 30s-40s) Estranged wife of Jerry - one of the out of work steelworkers and Dave’s best friend. She is a realist, and constantly wrestles with her feelings about Jerry. She loves him but has gotten used to being disappointed. Alto with belt.
