Setting: Modern day, New York. This hip-hop fusion of stunts and spoken word exposes the way ethnic stereotypes are exploited and subverted in the high-stakes world of professional wrestling.
Seeking (all roles are available):
Theatre’s casting note: “All characters will have extensive physical action in this production, including – but not limited to – professional wrestling moves/stunts.”
Macedonio Guerra (Mace):
Puerto Rican man, 20s-30s. Professional wrestler. Good at what he does. Undersized. Our hero.
Everett K. Olson (EKO):
Caucasian man, 40s-60s. Owner of THE Wrestling. Brash, confident. Ostensibly our villain.
Chad Deity:
African American man, 30s. Champion of THE Wrestling. Confident. Handsome. Not a very good wrestler.
Vigneshwar Paduar (VP):
Indian American man, 20s. Young Brooklynite. Charismatic, natural, effortless.
The Bad Guy / Others:
Man, 20s-30s. Nondescript professional wrestler. Non-speaking. Actor also plays Billy Heartland and Old Glory.
