SEEKING
Equity stage manager for The Color Purple, directed by Timothy Douglas. (See role, responsibilities, qualifications, and experience in breakdown.)

The Equity Stage Manager is a member of the DCPA-Theatre Company’s Stage Management team and works closely with the Production Stage Manager to execute all stage managerial duties for individual productions with DCPA-Theatre Company, Education, and Off-Center. The Stage Manager will work closely with producers, directors, designers, technicians, and actors on assigned productions and is fundamental in relaying information to Theatre Company’s Artistic and Production leadership, teams and shops.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and positive in stressful conditions.
Run rehearsal rooms during the primary and understudy rehearsals.
Maintain an atmosphere of empathy, compassion, and inclusiveness in leadership.
Manage the cast backstage and anticipate their needs for a safe performance.
Adhere and apply all Equity rules and company policies.
Create and maintain both presets and running lists for all departments.
Collaborate with Department heads.
Manage the backstage crew.
Run tech rehearsals and call the show.
Create rehearsal reports, show reports and other reporting documents as required.
Lead a team of 2 ASM’s and 2 Apprentices.
Maintain blocking script, calling script and archive files.
Other Stage Management duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Member in good standing with Actor’s Equity Association
Minimum 5 years of specifically PSM / SM Experience
Calling Large Scale Musical Experience
Music comprehension or the ability to read music
Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.
Even tempered with the ability to anticipate and adapt to constantly changing situations.
