Equity actors, male and female, for SPRING AWAKENING. See breakdown.
Preparation
Deaf actors: Prepare a brief monologue or brief ASL song. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.
Young hearing actors: Prepare 16 bars of a pop/rock song showing range. Bring sheet music; a piano accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

SEEKING:
[HANSCHEN (HEARING ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A rather narcissistic schoolmate of Melchior's. He is comfortable with his own sexuality and uses his looks and intelligence to captivate Ernst. Optional Doubling as RUPERT. Will be required to learn some ASL. Excellent singer and actor. Range: Ab2 - D5. ENSEMBLE
[ERNST (DEAF ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A schoolmate of Melchior's. Naive and easily manipulated, which allows him to fall in love with Hanschen. Optional Doubling as REINHOLD. Must be fluent in ASL. Excellent and musical actor. ENSEMBLE
[VOICE OF ERNST (HEARING ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. See description above. Must play piano. Must ride bicycle. Will be required to learn some ASL. Excellent singer and actor. Range: Ab2 - A4. ENSEMBLE
[MARTHA (DEAF ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A schoolgirl who faces constant physical abuse from her father. She harbors a secret crush towards Moritz. Must be fluent in ASL. Excellent and musical actor. ENSEMBLE
[VOICE OF MARTHA (HEARING ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. Must play electric guitar and acoustic guitar. Will be required to learn some ASL. Excellent singer and actor. Range: E3 - E5. ENSEMBLE
[GEORG (HEARING ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A clumsy schoolmate of Melchior's. He is overcome with his feelings for his piano teacher. Must play piano. Will be required to learn some ASL. Incredibly soulful singer and actor. Range: Ab2 - D5. ENSEMBLE
[OTTO (DEAF ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A classmate of Melchior's. He struggles with feelings he considers inappropriate. Must be fluent in ASL. Understudies MORITZ and ERNST. Excellent and musical actor. ENSEMBLE
[VOICE OF OTTO (HEARING ACTOR)] Male, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. See above description. Must play upright bass and electric bass. Will be required to learn some ASL. Excellent singer and actor. Range: Ab2 - D5. ENSEMBLE
[ANNA (HEARING ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A German schoolgirl and Martha's best friend. Optimistic and a bit naive, she has a difficult time understanding Martha's trials. Will be required to learn some ASL. Excellent singer and actor. Range: E3 - C5. ENSEMBLE
[THEA (DEAF ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. Wendla's best friend. A schoolgirl who tries to stay innocent and pure. Must be fluent in ASL. Excellent and musical actor. ENSEMBLE
[HEIDI (HEARING ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. Thea’s sister and interpreter. A schoolgirl who tries to stay innocent and pure. Will be required to learn some ASL. Understudies ILSE. Excellent singer and actor. Range: E3 - E5. ENSEMBLE
[GRETEL (HEARING ACTOR)] Female, to play 15 – 20 years old, any ethnicity. A shy schoolgirl who is a bit of a bookworm and never feels quite at home with the rest of the girls. Must play harp. Will be required to learn some ASL. Understudies ANNA, HEIDI, and ILSE. Excellet singer and actor. Range: E3 - E5. ENSEMBLE
