Ensign Nellie Forbush - Mid 20s-30. Female identifying. An optimistic and simple, self-described “Hick” Navy nurse from Little Rock, Arkansas who falls in love with Emile; strong mezzo. More non traditional quirky leading lady. Some dancing required. Ab3-C5

Emile De Becque Male identifying, Late 40's-50's Wealthy, debonair French plantation owner. romantic, charming and passionate, Strong legit Baritone 5'10 and above in height. French accent. A3-E4.

Lt. Joseph Cable - Male identifying. 25 – 35 Tenor. A handsome and intelligent Lieutenant with a bright future in the US Navy who falls in love with Liat. Soaring Tenor D3-G4.

Luther Billis - Male identifying. 25 - 35 / Baritone. A lovable “wheeler-dealer” character who provides his fellow Marines with much needed comic relief. Does not understand boundaries. G3-C5.

Bloody Mary - Female identifying. 40-55 / Mezzo. A shrewd Tonkinese/ Vietnamese souvenir dealer native to the island, who makes a fortune from the sailors. Trying to find her daughter Liat a rich husband. Strong mezzo. G3-C5.

Liat - Female identifying. teen. A beautiful Tonkinese/Vietnamese native girl who steals the heart of Joe Cable. Bloody Mary’s daughter. Dancer.

Captain George Brackett - Male identifying. 40 – 55 / Non-singing Commanding Officer on the island. Authority figure with a soft side.

Commander William Harbison - Male identifying. 35 – 45 / Non-singing Brackett’s right hand man. Can be hot-headed, especially where Billis is concerned.

Ngana - Female identifying. 8 – 14 / Mezzo. Emile’s mixed race (Polynesian and French) daughter D4-C5.

Jerome - Male identifying. 7-12 . Emile’s mixed race (Polynesian and French) son D4-C5.
