Local Boston-area actors are encouraged to audition.

Reagle Music Theatre is a company that values education and provides professional, high-quality productions that feature local and Broadway talents, both on stage and off. We aim to create an atmosphere of mutual learning where all artists can benefit, no matter where they are in their careers.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief song in the style of the show or from the show itself that showcases your vocal and acting skills. If you would like to be considered for more than 1 show, please prepare 2 contrasting songs. For AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and SOUTH PACIFIC: If any of the roles that you are auditioning for are “non-singing”, you may prepare a 1- minute monologue instead of a song. Please bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided.

SEEKING:

ALL SHOOK UP

Chad (18-30 Caucasian male) A great-lookin', motorcyclin', guitar-playin', leather-jacketed roustabout. He is firm on spreading the message of love. Range: F#2-A4.

Natalie Haller (18-25 Caucasian female) A young woman who is an excellent mechanic. She’s much more at home in greasy overalls than in a dress. She is completely smitten with Chad. Range: F#3-F5.

Jim Haller (45-65 Caucasian male) Natalie's widowed father. Middle-aged and messy, he still longs for his wife. When Chad comes to town, Jim makes the effort to move on with his life. Bb3-F#4.

Sylvia (35-55 Black female) The no-nonsense owner of Sylvia's Honky-Tonk. Mother of Lorraine. She ends up falling for Jim. Range: F3-F5.

Lorraine (18-25 Black female) Sylvia's teenage daughter. Pretty, smart, and a total romantic. She falls for Dean and would do anything to be with him. Range: C4-Eb5.

Dennis (18-25 Caucasian male) A young, quirky, and awkward, aspiring dentist. He is in love with Natalie. Longing to be noticed by her, he makes himself Chad's sidekick. Range: A3-Bb4.

Miss Sandra (25-35 Caucasian female) The beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town's museum. Chad is in love with her. She is in love with Ed (Natalie). Range: E3-F5.

Mayor Matilda Hyde (38-55 Caucasian female) The town's very conservative mayor. She believes Chad is the devil in disguise when he rides into town. Range: Bb4-C6

Sheriff Earl (40-65 Caucasian female) The law in town. A man of few words. He loyally follows the Mayor wherever she goes. Range: B2-F#4

Dean Hyde (18-25 Caucasian male) Matilda's teenage son. He has grown up at a military boarding school and has never disobeyed his mother, until he meets Lorraine. Range: D3-Bb4.

roles throughout the show (townspeople, jailbirds, and statues) excellent singers and dancers with dynamic personalities. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS

NOTE: With the exception of Madame and Monsieur Baurel, all roles require very strong dance ability, including jazz, tap, and ballet styles.

Adam Hochberg (21-35 year old Jewish-American male) A New York born man who is a classically trained composer currently living in Paris. He is quick-witted, self-deprecating, and a genius on the piano. Loves Lise. Strong mover. Baritenor.

Jerry Mulligan (21-31 year old male) An American ex-soldier and artist. He is somewhat of an innocent in a complicated world. He is confident and friendly and falls madly in love with Lise. A major triple threat, Gene Kelly type. An excellent ballet dancer with advanced partnering skills. Baritenor.

Henri Baurel (21-31 year old male) The son of privileged Parisians. Secretly wants to become a song and dance man. Confused about his romantic prospects. Sensitive. Strong singer and dancer. Tenor.

Lise Dassin (18-27 year old Jewish-Franco female) A Prima Ballerina. Very guarded, but kind and generous. Conflicted, and a bit melancholy. A phenomenal ballet dancer with advanced pointe and partnering skills. Soprano.

Milo Davenport (25-35 year old female) An American heiress who is on the hunt for good art and the things that pleasure her. Philanthropist. Strong, confident, and alluring. Strong singer and dancer. Mezzo Soprano.

Madame Baurel (50-60 year old female) The stern and protective matriarch of the Baurel family. Extremely caring. No singing required. French Accent. *

Ensemble (male and female characters aged 18-65) The ensemble will play many roles throughout the show. They are a group of superb singers and dancers with extensive ballet training and excellent jazz and contemporary dance training. Partnering experience and pointe work are highly encouraged. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

SOUTH PACIFIC

Ensign Nellie Forbush (20s-30s Caucasian female) An optimistic and simple, self-described “Hick” Navy nurse from Little Rock, Arkansas who falls in love with Emile. Her values and prejudices are challenged as she learns that the mother of Emile’s children was an island native. Strong comedic skills and movement abilities. Range: Ab3-C5

Emile de Becque (40s-50s Caucasian male) A wealthy, debonair French plantation owner who sweeps Nellie off of her feet with his romantic sensibility, charm, and passion for life. He is a widower and has two mixed-race children. Range: A3-E4.

Seabee Luther Billis (20s-40s Caucasian male) A lovable “wheeler-dealer” character who provides his fellow Marines with much needed comic relief. Crude, tough, and undisciplined. He worships Nellie and would do anything for her (including her laundry). Strong comedic and physical skills. Range: G3- C5.

Bloody Mary (40-55 Tonkinese/Vietnamese female) A shrewd souvenir dealer native to the island, who makes a fortune from the sailors. Trying to find her daughter, Liat, a rich husband. Range: G3-C5. NOTE: Asian Pacific Islander actors are encouraged to audition.

Lieutenant Joseph Cable (20s-30s Caucasian male) An Ivy League-educated lieutenant from outside Philadelphia. Formal and reserved at first, he falls in love with Liat, and must resolve his inner conflict concerning race. Range: D3-G4

Liat (18-25, Tonkinese/Vietnamese female) Bloody Mary's young, beautiful and innocent daughter, Liat speaks French but manages to transcend the barriers of language and steals the heart of American Lt. Joe Cable. Unlike her ambitious mother, Liat has simple aspirations, valuing love over material possessions. A strong physical storyteller. NOTE: Asian Pacific Islander actor encouraged to attend.

Ngana (7-14 year old Polynesian female) Emile’s mixed race (Polynesian and French) daughter. Range: D4-C5.

Jerome (7-14 year old Polynesian male) Emile’s mixed race (Polynesian and French) son. Range: D4 -C5.

Captain Brackett (40-55 Caucasian male) Commanding Officer on the island. Authority figure with a soft side. Non-singing.

Commander Harbison (35-45 Caucasian male) Brackett’s right hand man. Can be hot-headed, especially where Billis is concerned. Non-singing.

Ensemble (male and female characters aged 18-55) The ensemble will play many featured roles throughout the show including marines, sailors, nurses, ensigns, islanders, nuns, and officers. Some will also perform in small, featured supporting roles. Seeking singers and dancers with dynamic personalities. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
