SEEKING
(Roles, Understudies, as well as possible replacements):
- ELEKTRA: she/her or they/them. 20s-40s. Open ethnicity. Daughter of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon, sister of Orestes and Chrysothemis. Strong. Fierce, Uncontrollable. Great with language.
- CLYTEMNESTRA: she/her or they/them. Late 50s-80s. Open ethnicity. Mother of Elektra and Queen of Argos. Unapologetic. Powerful. Great with language.
- CHRYSOTHEMIS: she/her or they/them. 20s-40s. Open ethnicity. Sister to Elektra. More controlled than Elektra. Great with language.
- AEGISTHUS: He/him. Late 50s-70s. Open ethnicity. Lover of Clytemnestra. Ruthless. Great with language.
- ORESTES: He/him or they/them. Mid-teens-40s. Open ethnicity. Brother to Elektra and son to Clytemnestra. Strong, Open. Great with language.
- Six Chorus members: She/her or they/them. Six vocalists in mid-soprano to low alto range. The score consists of about 30 minutes of unaccompanied vocal music, often in 3- and 4-part harmony. The music is at times complex rhythmically and vocalists should be able to independently hold their own part. We are looking for a heterogenous sound, with singers who can maintain an individual character to their voice while still being able to blend well. The general sound we are looking for is best described as soulful and earthy.
