HOW TO MELT ICE

SEEKING:

• TIA CRISTINA (Late 50s, female, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. The oldest of the sisters. Mother to Memo. Tia Cristina is the matriarch of the family. She is quiet but strong-minded. Robust physique. Step out of line and she’ll check you with a chancla. Undocumented American.
• TIA CARMELA (Mid 50s, female, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. The middle sister. Mother to Ximena. She appears fragile but she is physically strong. Tia Carmela evolves throughout this physically. Stress, fatigue, all catch up too soon. Undocumented American.
• TIA EUGENIA (Early 40s, female, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. The youngest of the sisters. Gossip makes her hair thick and strong. She thrives in it. No kids. Just lovers. She’s unapologetically sexy. Tia Eugenia has big dreams and can never be caught without a bright red lipstick. Undocumented American.
• XIMENA “LIZARD GIRL” (CAST) (Early 20s, female, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. Daughter of Tia Carmela. DREAMer brought over to the U.S. as an infant. She is sassy, but confused on who she is and who she wants to be, constantly having to be split between both the U.S. and Mexico. Ximena has clear indigenous features. DACAmented.
• MEMO “EL BURRO VOLADOR” (CAST) (Late 20s, male, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. Son of Tia Cristina. Wears an Alebrije mask as a kid but not as an adult. Memo is bright, enthusiastic, he's your favorite cousin to sit with at family functions. But he is as his nickname implies stubborn like a donkey. Memo has clear indigenous features. Undocumented American.
• PABLO “PAUL” (Late 20s, male, Latino): Ximena’s ex-boyfriend. Fourth generation Latinx American. Completely removed from his Latinx culture. Paul is lighthearted and engaging, he is sincere but torn between love and loyalty. A white passing man.
• MATTHEW “MATEO” (Late 20s, male, Latino): Speaks Spanish. First-generation immigration lawyer, Ximena’s husband in 2017. Latinx American, Proud of his Latinx roots. Definitely physically smaller than Paul but he stands tall and confident.

NOVIOS

SEEKING:

• VLAD (31, Russian): Speaks with a light accent. Food runner. Dom daddy with a sad boy center. His definition of gay is a man who likes men and masculinity. Despite being embraced by the men, he’s still very much an outsider amongst them. There is something dark lurking beneath the surface.
• MICKI (50s, Mexican): Speaks Spanish. Line cook. This country may have jaded him but this kitchen has been home and he doesn't take quickly to strangers. Big-hearted but guarded.
• GALLO (CAST) (Early 50s, Mexican-American): This isn’t her restaurant pero this is her kitchen. The men respect her because they know she’s always got their best interest at heart. Something ancient courses through her veins.
• LUIZ (CAST)(21, Americantino): Dishwasher. Not born here but raised in the city so he feels more American than anything. Got a chip on his shoulder and often walks around like his shit don’t stink. But, it’s all a façade.
• ANTOINE (CAST) (24 years old, AMAB non-binary): speaks with a slight Jamaican accent. A fierce voguer in the ballroom scene. They're femme, not flamboyant but not-not flamboyant either. Softness is their strength.
• DOMINICANO (CAST) (28. Dominican): Speaks in Spanish. Former MLB prospect, he still carries the swag of his glory days. A romantic moonlighting as a fuckboy.
