$720 weekly minimum (Ref. COST) for a 42- hour work week

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Paramount Arts Center - Bold Series 2023-24 Season

Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

SEEKING:

HEIDI: Female, 40s. A former 15-year old debate champion who traveled the country giving speeches about the Constitution at American Legion halls for prize money. Heidi steps into the shoes of her 15- year-old self, and then brings us with her into the present. Heidi is an engaging, dynamic, smart, passionate and witty storyteller who connects to the audience and world with honesty, fortitude, and heart.

LEGIONNAIRE: Male, 40s. An assertive American Legionnaire monitoring the speech and debate with a command of the rules and law, who, later reveals that he is Heidi’s friend, ally, and assistant, filled with a positive energy and genuine soul.

DEBATER: 16-18 years old. A high school teenage debater with confidence, conviction, and compassion. They can hold their own during the debate with Heidi. They think quick on their feet and have strong debating skills.

SEEKING:

Blanche DuBois: Female, 30s-40s. A former “Southern-Belle” dealing with a series of personal losses including a sense of guilt around her husband’s passing. Blanche is cultured and intelligent, yet she struggles with deep insecurities having turned to worldly habits to deal with life’s hardships.

Stella Kowalski: Female, 20-25. Blanches younger sister and wife to Stanley. Having crafted a new life with Stanley in New Orleans, she is strong, calm and reasonable while also being unapologetic when it comes to her relationships.

Stanley Kowalski: Male, 30s. Stella’s husband. A driven and passionate man with a personality that can change into something more threatening. Stanley loves Stella, seeing her as the perfect balance to his violent tendencies.

Harold Mitchell (Mitch): Male, 30s. A close friend of Stanley’s through poker-playing. He is deeply sensitive and compassionate while dealing with an impending loss. Harold finds himself drawn to Blanche, eventually developing a romantic relationship with her.

Ensemble: All Genders, 20-50. Various roles such as doctor, nurse, collector, poker-players and neighbors.
