Seeking

Male and Female Actors for 2014 Summer Season, including THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.

Preparation

Also prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song in best range, and bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. If you are a dancer, also prepare a short demonstration. CD accompaniment for the dance is fine. Bring headshot and resume.

A monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

note: set in the Wild West, actors will play multiple roles, age ranges are flexible SHERIFF SOLINUS: male/female; the law in Ephesus. Just, but compassionate. AEGEON: male; an old man seeking his lost family.

DEPUTY: male/female; enforces the law in Ephesus. Good at his/her job. ANTIPHOLUS OF SYRACUSE: male; young man seeking his twin brother. DROMIO OF SYRACUSE: male; young servant of Anthipholus of Syracuse. ADRIANA: female; frustrated wife of Anthipholus of Ephesus.

LUCIANA: female; Adriana’s sister, thinks women should be submissive. ANTIPHOLUS OF EPHESUS: male; frustrated businessman.

DROMIO OF EPHESUS: male; young servant of Antipholus of Ephesus. ANGELO: male/female; a maker of jewelry in Ephesus.

BALTHAZAR: male/female; a merchant.

NELL: male/female; a boisterous and flirty cook to Antipholus of Ephesus and Adriana. SALOON OWNER: female; proprietor of Antipholus of Ephesus’ favorite saloon.

PINCH: male/female; a snake oil salesman. AEMELI

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT note: Butler, Baker, various sons may be cast gender-blind NARRATOR: female; 20s-40s; guides the story. CHILDREN’S CHORUS: male/female; ages 6-18.

JACOB/POTIPHAR: male; 30s+; a man with many sons, and a rich jealous Egyptian. JOSEPH: male; 20s-30s; a man blessed with dreams and the ability to interpret dreams. PHARAOH: male; 30s-60s; an Elvis-inspired ruler of Egypt who has disturbing dreams. BENJAMIN: teens-20s; Jacob’s youngest son. Framed for theft!

MRS. POTIPHAR: female; 20s+; Potiphar’s wife. Lacks scruples. Digs Joseph. BUTLER: 20s-30s; a prisoner who has a good meaningful dream.

BAKER: 20s-30s; a prisoner who has an unfortunate meaningful dream. SIMEON: 20s-30s; Jacob’s son.

FELDZIEG: male; 25-35; Broadway producer who is desperate for his start to return to his show; played by Jack Adler. Db3 - Db4

GANGSTERS (G1 and G2): male; 35-45; posting as pastry chefs, this duo is intending to collect from Feldzieg; played by the vaudeville duo Tall Brothers. Db3 - Gb4

GEORGE: male; 35-50; Robert’s anxious, dim-witted best man who has Robert’s best interest always at heart. F3 - Bb4

JANET VAN DE GRAAF: female; 25-35; the famous bride, glamorous and talented start of

Feldzieg’s Follies, played by rising star Jane Roberts. G3 - Eb

KITTY: female; 25-30; Feldzieg’s dim-witted companion who has hopes of being a star, played

by Sadie Adler. Bb3 - F5

MAN IN CHAIR: male; 30-50; musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden

Era, he narrates the show as he listens to the record on vinyl. Speaking Role.

MRS. TOTTENDALE: female; 50-60; air-headed, proper, bossy host of the wedding. G3 - Db5

ROBERT MARTIN: male; 25-35; the dashing, ever-cheerful groom, played by matinee-idol

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE: female; 45-55; Janet’s tipsy confidante and friend, played by well- established stage actress Beatrice Stockwell. F3 - D5

TRIX: female; 30-40; the brave and brash female aviator who, by chance, is recruited to perform the wedding. Ab3 - Eb5

UNDERLING: male; 35-50; Mrs. Tottendale’s savvy butler who is thrifty and stiff yet has an understated sense of humor. Ab2 - G4
