BREAKDOWN

A multiverse play that travels through the past, the present, and the future to create a negotiation between traditional and contemporary worldview of Shenandoah Cornelius Winder, an Oneida Nation, non-binary, and self-proclaimed Indigi-nerd teenager. They are called to Onondaga Lake to seek our understanding, restitution and blood memory to clean up the historical and environmental damage we have made. Shenandoah fosters reciprocal relations with Sky Woman, Grams, and their great-great grandmother, Mary Cornelius Winder - the first Oneida woman to write a letter to the United States Government demanding Land back. Time is water and words are seeds. As Shenandoah connects to Water to find their voice, they inspire and create a call to action to the next generation to protect, defend, and acknowledge the Haudenosaunee Nation, their traditions and the land we all share.

PLAYER (18+) Native/Indigenous (Haudenosaunee). Portrays various roles ranging in age from ages 16 to 45. Roles include Shenandoah - a non-binary feminine leaning teen, Grams/Water - Oneida grandmother to Shenandoah, and Mary Cornelius Winder - Oneida Nation and great-great grandmother of Shenandoah. Sings, moves well, and has comic timing.
