SEEKING:
[King Belenus] 45-60. The current ruler of the Kingdom of Cosimo. The pressures and expectations of his position have been nearly overwhelming, but for 30 years he has led his country in glorious fashion. Unfortunately, the foundation of his family has not held up so well. The King travels to Paris with his family on a quest to reignite the heart of his wife and inspire his daughter to embrace the royal life that is calling her. He will find that this is not as easy as he hopes. Will speak and sing throughout the piece. Although he will not dance like the rest, he will be moving stylistically in a way that matches the world.
[Queen Roksana] 45-60. Married to the King as teenagers, their love has paid the price from the long race. She is filled with bitterness at being back in the city of Paris, where they shared their honeymoon. Now she must contend with the fact that her daughter is about to be married off into the same fate. Will speak and sing in the piece, but MOST OF HER STORYTELLING WILL HAPPEN THROUGH DANCE. Principal dancer with exceptional classical/contemporary skill.
[Tooba] Early 20s. The King's young and vibrant daughter. Tooba is expected to marry someone for political gain but has other notions. She is initially appreciated for her beauty but discovers herself more fully throughout the show and connects with Jacques on a deeper level. She will learn that everyone must make their own choices and mistakes, and there will always be consequences for those actions. Will speak and sing in the piece, but MOST OF HER STORYTELLING WILL HAPPEN THROUGH DANCE. Strong contemporary dancer with hip hop style and ability. Has strong partnering skills.
OFFERS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THE FOLLOWING ROLES:
[Camille Beauvour] ROLE IS CAST. 30s. Camille has a simple life. Once an aspiring musician, she now teaches piano in the Parisian flat she shares with her husband, a watchmaker. They don’t have much—but it’s enough. Her life will turn upside down when she impossibly crosses paths with the famous King of Cosimo. Camille narrates the show, playing piano live on stage and singing the majority of the score while much of the narrative plays out through dance.
[Henri Beauvour] ROLE IS CAST. 30s. Husband to Camille, Henri keeps a small watch shop in Paris. He labors through his days, never having had the confidence to follow his dreams of being an artist. This changes when he is commissioned by the King of Cosimo to create an anniversary gift for the King’s wife. He will go from watchmaker to superstar, but at what cost? Will speak and sing throughout the show, but MOST OF HIS STORYTELLING WILL HAPPEN THROUGH DANCE. Has strong contemporary and hip-hop ability.
[Jacques] ROLE IS CAST. 20s, a young intellectual who works at a Parisian bookstore. Jacques usually has his head in his favorite novel and loses himself in literature -- until he meets Tooba, who awakens feelings and courage inside him he didn't know existed. Will he be able to fight for what he wants and defy a King? Will speak and sing in the piece, but MOST OF HIS STORYTELLING WILL HAPPEN THROUGH DANCE. A strong technical dancer with great partnering skills.
