PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

If you are unable to find a reader, please prepare a monologue in the style of the show. If you are using an iPhone to video record, be sure to film horizontally and in a well-lit space (not backlit). At the top of the video, slate your name and height.

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING UNDERSTUDY TRACKS: All characters are of West African descent.
UNDERSTUDY 1: Female, Late 20’s-Early 30’s, Black, West African. [AYAMMA OKAFOR] - aspiring Nigerian film actress with raw talent. Works as a travel agent/secretary at her parents' office. She is a big dreamer and hopes for a better life for herself as a famous actress./[FAYLOA OGUNLEYE] - wildly referred to as The Nigerian Halle Berry with Tina Turner Legs as she is very beautiful and very sexy. She is pompous and arrogant and will say anything to get her way regardless of how it makes her look. She views Ayamma as her prime competition.
UNDERSTUDY 2: Female, Late 20’s-Early 40’s, Black, West African. [DEDE OKAFOR] - Ayamma's older sister. She works (lazily) at her parents' travel agency. She loves all things pop culture: talk shows, soap operas, and celebrities, she loves it all. Close with Ayamma but also serves as Ayamma's truth serum when need be. [ADENIKEH] - Talk show host - the Nigerian Oprah Winfrey.
UNDERSTUDY 3: Male, 30’s, West African. [GBENGA EZIE] - Rising Nigerian film director. Is known to be rich and has studied in America but harbors dangerous secrets to his success./ [WALE OWUSU] - Nigeria's hottest rising star. He is half Ghanaian and half Nigerian. He is constantly being hit on by women but they rarely ever get to know him or his story. Quietly confident.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST:
[AYAMMA OKAFOR] Female, 20’s/early 30’s, West African - aspiring Nigerian film actress with raw talent. Works as a travel agent/secretary at her parents' office. She is a big dreamer and hopes for a better life for herself as a famous actress.
[DEDE OKAFOR] Male, 20’s/30’s, West African - Ayamma's older sister. She works (with an attitude) at her parents' travel agency. She loves all things pop culture: talk shows, soap operas, and celebrities, she loves it all. Close with Ayamma but also serves as Ayamma's truth serum when need be.
[GBENGA EZIE] Male, 30’s, West African - Rising Nigerian film director. Is known to be rich and has studied in America but harbors heartbreaking secrets to his success.
[WALE OWUSU] Male, 20’s/30’s, West African - Nigeria's hottest rising star and biggest heartthrob. Charming and talented, no one ever gets to know the real him.
[FAYLOA OGUNLEYE] Female, 30’s, West African - once Nigeria’s top actress, Fayola is desperately trying to hold onto her fading star. She is sexy, beautiful, arrogant and smart. She will say anything to get her way regardless of how it makes her look. She views Ayamma as her prime competition.
[ADENIKEH] Female, Late 30’s/Early 40’s, West African - The Nigerian Oprah Winfrey; Big personality with a heart of gold.
