SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles in the upcoming season Plays (non-musicals). See breakdown.

All scripts will be available at the StageSource offices (88 Tremont Street, Suite 714, Boston, MA 02108).

PREPARATION

Equity appointments are scheduled in five-minute intervals, and each Equity Member has three minutes to audition. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day as time permits. Please prepare material of your choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season’s repertoire). For those who wish to perform a scene, a reader will be available. Please be prepared to state your starting and stopping places. Sides will not be provided.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

(mid 30’s white M) youngest brother. Attractive middle-aged hipster; prizewinning novelist

JAKE
(early 40’s, white M) middle brother. Athletic; successful, recently divorced banker; cocky and masculine.

MATT
(early 40’s, white M) eldest brother. Unemployed Harvard Alumn, Charismatic but burdened.

ED
(late 60’s/early 70’s, white M) Great sense of humor; good-natured, lovable, widowed and retired engineer.

PERSON IN CHARGE
ideally a gender nonconforming character. A person of color. Has an abundance of natural charm; they will interact with the audience and should be able to ad-lib responses as necessary.

ADIEL
(16, black F) full of life, played by the same actress who plays RUTH. She is a Ugandan. She knows how to protect herself. She is a romantic.

RUTH
(29, black F) played by the same actress who plays ADIEL. She is a woman of faith who believes in forgiveness for all people. She has a big heart.

SOLDIER
(20’s, black M) played by the same actor who plays PAUL. A Ugandan soldier who happens on Adiel and forces himself on her,

PAUL
(30’s, black M) played by the same actor who plays SOLDIER. A pastor who has taken over the church abandoned by Chris' family when they fled the country, married to Ruth, he deeply believes in his mission; he is a leader, has gravitas and power and honesty but he is also tender and loving.

PIKA
(16, black M) played by the same actor who plays FRANCIS. He is a Ugandan boy-soldier who has been forced to perform atrocities, he is looking to escape but cannot forgive what he sees as the worst atrocity.

FRANCIS
(22, black M) played by the same actor who plays PIKA. A young man who has been outed and is no longer accepted in Paul's congregation, he is looking for acceptance. He is not afraid to be vulnerable.
